“We plan to act as an information clearing house for members, as well as engaging in discussion of public policy regarding exploration,” said William Ulland, MEA president and managing partner of American Shield Company in Duluth. Other officers of the new organization include secretary- treasurer Keith Laskowski of Newmont Exploration Ltd., and a 5- member board of directors.
In addition to providing regular and timely access to information through its newsletter, The Minnesota Prospector, the MEA also will identify several unwarranted institutional impediments to exploration and new mine development in Minnesota and work with the appropriate body to achieve changes.
Two types of memberships are available — primary level for those actively engaged in exploring for minerals in Minnesota, and associate for members of the general public interested in exploration.
