Asquith finds gold, plans drilling

Soil sampling on Asquith Resources’ (ASQH-C) Roandji property in the Central African Republic has identified a large gold anomaly.

Two percussion drills operating on the Agoudou Manga prospect outlined gold mineralization in soils within an area measuring 120 by 250 metres. Assays range from 0.1 to 3.03 grams gold per tonne. To follow up these results and investigate four other prospects on the 2,000-sq.-km property, Asquith plans to launch a diamond drill program in late November.

Asquith says the soil anomaly appears to be associated with a north-trending quartz vein stockwork system, grab samples of which returned values ranging from 2.58 to 1,430 grams gold per tonne. The stockwork zone, which reaches widths of 30 metres, is hosted by altered, saprolitic mafic volcanics.

About 40 km north of Agoudou Manga, Asquith is attempting to locate the source of the placer-style gold. Previous sampling identified a northwest-trending zone of quartz veinlets in a pyritic, silicified quartzite. The 2-km-long zone returned grades of up to 4 grams.
