Gold intersections have been reported during an initial phase of drilling on the Niaouleni concession in Mali, West Africa.
The property is under option to Viceroy Resources (VSE), which can earn a 70% interest from Mink Mineral Resource (VSE) by spending $2.7 million before June 30, 1995.
Of the four areas tested in the 21-hole program, two returned significant results, Viceroy reports. Stockwork quartz veins and iron sulphides in highly altered schistose volcanics were encountered.
Results from the East Niaouleni target included an 8-metre intersection from 42 to 52 metres grading 12.76 grams gold per tonne. Another hole returned a 4-metre intersection grading 2.63 grams gold from 42 metres to 46 metres. Drilling on the Lebre Plateau intersected eight metres, starting at surface, grading 1.31 grams gold. Another hole on the target intersected an 8-metre interval from two to 10 metres grading two grams gold.
Viceroy plans further work in October, after the rainy season. Test-pitting and sampling on mineralized areas will be followed by further drilling.
