Two surface holes at the Virginiatown, Ont., property of Armistice Resources (ACI-M) have intersected gold mineralization in a geological setting the company believes is the faulted extension of the Kerr Addison deposit.
One hole cut an 8.8-metre intersection grading 2.8 grams gold per tonne, with a true width of 7.2 metres. The other cut 6.7 metres grading 12.9 grams (0.38 oz.), including a 2.1-metre section grading 35.7 grams (1.04 oz.).
The mineralized zones are about 330 metres west of the existing shaft and at a vertical depth of about 630 metres. The deepest workings at the development are about 675 metres below surface.
The gold mineralization is in pyritic zones resembling the “flow ore” and green carbonate ore units in the Kerr Addison mine. These were two of the main ore hosts in the Kerr during its period of operation. The new intersections have the highest gold grade yet seen in similar rocks on the Armistice property.
The company plans to carry out further drilling from the deep workings, and will also bulk-sample material from its 100N and 260N zones., on the same level.
