The Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario (APGO) is ready to begin registering geoscientists who meet membership criteria.
The registration process follows regulations outlined in the Professional Geoscientists Act, passed in June 2000, which recognized geology and geophysics as self-regulating professions.
The regulations define different classes of licensure, and a code of ethics defines members’ professional obligations, duties and responsibilities.
“Our professional status will inspire public confidence and empower the association to promote skill and integrity among members,” says APGO President William Pearson.
The APGO is using office space provided by Watts Griffis & McOuat in Toronto.
