Anzex drills Woodlawn

Vancouver-based Anzex Resources (AZX-V) has completed two holes of a 4-hole drilling program at its Woodlawn platinum prospect in Southland, New Zealand.

Assay results are pending, though the company says both holes intersected “significant highly altered and mineralized horizons.” The project is 10 km north of the Longwoods property, drilled by Anzex in the late 1990s. The best hole of that 4-hole program returned 1 metre grading 1 gram combined platinum-palladium.

Anzex says Woodlawn’s geology differs significantly from Longwoods and is similar to rocks hosting nickel/platinum-group-metal deposits in Siberia (Noril’sk) and Western Australia. The junior held the project for several years, but only recently was drilling approved.

Of the 76 stream-sediment samples collected at Woodlawn last year, more than 32% were considered “highly anomalous,” with 21 samples ranging from 0.5 gram platinum per tonne to 9.5 grams. The three highest samples returned 8.5 grams, 9 grams and 9.5 grams platinum.
