Anglo starts airborne EM at Aripuana

Partners Anglo American (AAUK-Q) and Karmin Exploration (YKA-V) have started an airborne electromagnetic survey over their Aripuana massive sulphide property in Brazil’s Mato Grosso del Norte state.

The survey, using Anglo’s in-house SPECTREM multi-frequency system, will fly about 2,000 line-km in the Aripuana belt, where the companies have outlined two massive sulphide deposits. Several zones of metal enrichment have been found by geochemical surveys over a volcanic horizon. Surface geophysical surveys have also detected electromagnetic conductors.

The favourable volcanic horizon hosts the Aripuana deposit, where Karmin had earlier blocked out a resource of 11.7 million tonnes grading 6.29% zinc and 2.25% lead, plus minor copper, gold and silver credits, and Anglo’s Arex deposit, which Anglo has said is of “comparable” size and grade to Aripuana.
