Narrow intersections carrying visible gold have been reported by Anglo Canadian Mining (TSE) from some recently completed drill holes on its MWF property near Timmins, Ont. The claims are situated in Matheson Twp., east of the Hoyle Pond mine. Hole 11, drilled below an earlier 1-ft. intersection of 1.7 oz. gold per ton, cut visible gold across a narrow 1.6-ft. interval which assayed 3.03 oz. gold per ton. The intersection came from a depth of around 1,080 ft. A wider 121.9-ft. interval between the 1,098.7- 1,200.6 ft. depths in hole 11 averaged 0.051 oz. The latter zone is characterized by 1-4% pyrite mineralization.
Anglo says most of the gold values occur in a brecciated and highly altered mafic volcanic rock within 150 ft. of a contact with sedimentary strata. The zone is cut by quartz stringers and veins which are up to 4 ft. wide in places.
