TRV Mineracao Ltda. of Brazil has granted an option to Anglo American Corporation Do Brazil to explore its Anicuns gold project in the State of Goias. TRV Mineracao is jointly owned by two Vancouver companies, TRV Minerals and Highland Queen Mines.
The Anicuns is an old gold producer. In 1986-87 about $1 million(C) was spent on the project by TRV and its Brazilian partners, revealing additional gold mineralization on claims held by TRV.
Anglo American is examining assays and has started drilling on the property. Subject to positive results, the joint venture terms require Anglo American, as operator, to spend $2 million(US) to earn a 50% working interest in the 70,000-acre property.
The Anicuns mine is located 30 km south of the Crixas gold mine, a joint venture between Anglo American Do Brasil and Inco Ltd. The Crixas mine, which recently began production, contains eight million tons of 0.34 oz gold. TRV states that the Anicuns gold mine is believed to be geologically an extension of the Crixas mine, within the greenstone belt.
