AMERICAS — Expansion in works at Kori Kollo

A 2-phase, US$30-million expansion program of Inti Raymi, the 88% owned subsidiary of Battle Mountain Gold (NYSE), is under way at the Kori Kollo gold mine in Bolivia.

The company reported recently that throughput rates of 19,000 wet tonnes per day are being achieved, compared with a design capacity of 14,500 tonnes. In addition, the company is in the final engineering and procurement phase of its recovery enhancement program. Initial testing of the introduction of sodium cyanide during the milling of ore has been achieving recovery rates of about 70%.

Other recovery enhancement work will include construction of an oxygen plant and a gravity separation plant, and the addition of conditioning and carbon-in-leach tanks.

The work, to be completed during the first half of 1995, will boost gold output to a rate of 350,000 oz. per year.
