American Mineral Fields augments zinc project

Through a wholly owned subsidiary, America Mineral Fields (AMZ-T) has set up an exploration office in Solwezi, Zambia, to explore a large concession in that country’s copper belt.

The 1,400-sq.-km concession is adjacent to the company’s Kipushi zinc-copper project, a former producer in neighboring Zaire. America Mineral Fields is carrying out a feasibility study aimed at reopening Kipushi as a joint venture with state-owned Gecamines.

The Zambian concessions cover several mineral occurrences identified by satellite imagery.

The company is investigating the possibility that mineralization similar to that of Kipushi may continue into the Zambian concessions. Regional studies will be carried out to identify future drill targets.
