AMEC hired as engineering team for Afton/Ajax project

Vancouver-based Abacus Mining & Exploration (AME-V) has hired AMEC Americas to build an updated mineral resource model and carry out the necessary engineering work at the company’s Afton- Ajax project.

Located near Kamloops, B. C., the copper-gold project is comprised of five significant mineral properties.

AMEC aims to prepare a new resource estimate before the end of the third quarter and plans to complete a preliminary economic assessment before the end of 2008.

AMEC’s work will incorporate more than 85,000 metres of additional drill data gathered since the last resource estimate was completed.

Scott Ansell, project manager with AMEC, has organized a team of engineers and geologists for the project.
