Altius nabs more ground

Junior Altius Minerals (ALS-V) has added two properties to its promising exploration portfolio in Newfoundland.

The Fortune Bay property covers 62 claims on the eastern side of the island. Localized showings of stratiform copper mineralization are hosted in clastic sedimentary rocks.

In western Newfoundland, the junior acquired the similar-sized Rocky Brook uranium-precious metal property. Boulder samples have reportedly yielded up to 11.5% uranium-oxide, 17.8 grams gold and 29,448 grams silver per tonne, wheras outcrop has revealed up to 2.2% copper over 5.2 metres.

Meanwhile, drills are turning at the Victoria River and South Tally Pond massive-sulphide projects, in the province’s central mineral belt. Altius owns a 49% interest in Victoria River, with London-based Billiton holding the remainder. The junior can acquire Tally Pond from Noranda (NOR-T) by spending $500,000 over four years.
