Junior Altavista Mines (AIA-M) has discovered another gold-bearing structure at its Santa Anna property, 15 km southwest of La Sarre in northwestern Quebec.
The new discovery, called Zone 10, is 100 metres east of Zone 8 and has been traced over more than 200 metres. The structure is characterized by a strong silica and carbonate alteration, and remains open at depth and at both ends.
The best intersection reported from the zone is hole 66, which returned 8.95 grams gold per tonne over 8.14 metres (from 23 to 31.1 metres). Other highlights include: hole 104, which cut 2.1 metres (from 18.5 to 20.6 metres) grading 4.7 grams gold; and hole 105, which cut 3.8 metres (from 44.5 to 48.3 metres) of 5.53 grams.
Zone 8 extends another 150 metres to the south to a minimum depth of 152 metres. New results from this zone include: hole 123, which returned 3.9 metres (from 139 to 142.9 metres) grading 2.35 grams gold; and hole 125, which cut 4.9 metres (from 20 to 24.9 metres) of 2.47 grams.
Drilling at Santa Anna will resume in early March in an attempt to delineate the extensions of Zones 8 and 10.
In January, the Montreal-based firm optioned another 13 claims at Santa Anna, increasing its presence in the area to 89 claims encompassing 3,560 ha.
