New Mexico based Alotta Re- sources is set to begin work on a number of properties in the Val d’Or, Que., area.
According to President Albert Applegath, the company has optioned 21 claims known as the Walter Ingham group adjoining the Lamaque property at Val d’Or.
Some 20,000 ft of core drilling is expected to commence on the property after a geological mapping program which began recently.
VSE-listed Alotta can also earn a 66 2/3% interest in the Aumaque mine project in Val d’Or by spending $250,000 by July 31, and an additional $250,000 by Dec 31. Underground drilling will begin after the 700-ft shaft is drained. Unmined ore reserves established in 1947 indicated 199,400 tons of 0.25 oz gold and 3.47 oz silver per ton.
Alotta also has an option to earn a 75% interest on the New Senator Rouyn property at Rouyn, Que., by completing 60,000 ft of core drilling. Some 20,000 ft has already been completed and the company is assessing results.
The New Senator property produced 1.8 million tons of 0.14 gold from 1940 to 1955. A shaft was sunk to 3,000 ft with 17 working levels. Gold ore was produced from strong quartz systems.
The property adjoins the newly discovered gold ore bodies Silador and Ribago.
Alotta is currently completing drilling and sampling on two properties in Idaho and Arizona. Drilling started recently on the Mineral Zone project in Idaho were indicated reserves total 758,000 tons of 0.08 oz gold.
