Alcoa inks deal with Bombardier

American aluminum giant Alcoa is supplying Montreal-based Bombardier Aerospace with structural components and wing and fuselage skins for regional and business jets, including the Bombardier CRJ series and its signature Learjet.

The value of the multi-year contract was not disclosed.

Alcoa says the agreement integrates Bombardier’s need for light-weight, high-quality aluminum with its own aluminum expertise.

Alcoa produces primary aluminum, fabricated aluminum and alumina. Its smelters in Quebec provide much of the raw product used in the products delivered to Bombardier.

Bombardier Aerospace is a unit of Bombardier, which makes planes, trains and recreational vehicles.
