Alberta Stock Exhange Borealis gains 45 cents

Shares of Borealis Exploration posted a gain of 45 cents to close at $2.05 on volume of 22,500 during the report period ended May 8. Borealis owns several gold and platinum properties at Fat Lake and Rankin Inlet in the Northwest Territories Monte Carlo Gold rose 7 cents to 45 cents on volume of 279,700 shares after a story on the company appeared in a recent weekend edition of The Toronto Star. Monte Carlo owns gold mining concessions on the island of Aruba in the Caribbean, as well as a number of gold properties across northern Ontario.

Marshall Minerals gained 20 cents to close at $1.50 on volume of 6,400 shares, while BMR Gold was better by 11 cents to close at $1.40 on volume of 45,600 shares. Marshall Minerals owns the Restigouche zinc-lead-silver property in New Brunswick as well as interests in gold properties in Ontario and Africa.

Shares of Biron Bay Resources slipped 1 cents lower to 95 cents on volume of 42,400. The company is planning more drilling on the Summit joint venture gold property in New Mexico. Kingswood Explorations has completed an 18-hole drilling program on one of its properties in the Casa Berardi area of Quebec and is now seeking a senior partner to continue work on the property.

Big Valley Resources tacked on 6 cents to its share price of 24 cents while the company is negotiating financing to continue exploration on its copper-gold claims in the Cariboo mining district of British Columbia. With property interests in northwestern British Columbia, Integrated Resources was also better by 11 cents to close at 38 cents on volume of 314,000 shares.

After reporting a mixture of high- grade and low-grade drill results from its gold-copper prospect near Sudbury, Ont., Flag Resources remained unchanged at 40 cents, while Gallery Gold slipped 1 cents lower to 41 cents. The latter company is working on a large low-grade placer gold project in British Columbia.

Other junior issues losing ground during the report period include Gateford Resources which tumbled 20 cents to close at 37 cents on volume of 13,200 shares, and Montello Resources which shed 21 cents to close at 75 cents on thin volume. Montello said there has been a delay in its proposed agreement to acquire 75% of the shares of Promavia S.A., a private company.

Savanna Resources traded 494,000 shares for a gain of 3 cents to close at 38 cents, while Durvada Resources gained 5 cents to close at $1.65 on volume of 124,600 shares.
