Alberta Stock Exchange Volumes remain low

Of the other big traders in the resource category, only Golden Pacific Resources gained what could be described as significant ground. Trading on 177,500 shares, Golden Pacific added 5 cents to its share price before closing at 85 cents .

Golden Pacific’s Penon Blanco gold-silver property in California is currently under option to Daer Gold Mines which can earn a 50% interest.

Monte Carlo Gold Mines was up 5 cents following news that metallurgical tests on samples from its Aruba Island gold project have been completed. According to Monte Carlo, a 85.6% recovery rate was recorded on tailings material using gravity and cyanide circuit.

As a result, the company said it should be able to produce 17,500 oz gold from 70,000 tons of tailings and 100,000 tons of dump material grading 0.12 oz gold per ton when a milling facility is completed next year.

Flag Resources and Golden Briar Mines have joined the growing list of exploration companies who are contemplating an amalgamation, according to Flag President Murdo McLeod.

But further discussions have been postponed pending results of an exploration program on Flag’s Rathburn Lake platinum group, precious and base metal occurrence northeast of Sudbury, Ont.

The Flag issue was up 2 cents before closing at 92 cents while the bid on Golden Briar was 15 cents and the ask 15 cents .

Although it isn’t listed on The Northern Miner stock tables, Carlin Gold Co. has been trading in the 23 cents range after signing a joint venture deal with American Barrick Resources of Toronto.

Under the agreement, Barrick can earn a 60% stake in Carlin’s Shirley gold property by completing 5,000 ft of drilling. The property is located in northern Nevada 38 miles north of Barrick’s Goldstrike mine.

Carlin recently leased the Tiscornia Ranch gold property in Calavaras Cty., Calif. which contains two former high grade producers called the Demarest and Shotgun mines.
