Joint venture partners Akiko- Lori Gold (VSE) and Noranda (TSE) have reported more low-grade gold intercepts from an ongoing work program at their Springpole property, 70 miles northeast of Red Lake, Ont. Assays from the current drill program yielded only marginal gold values in the both the Main and Fluorite zones. The highest values reported from the Main zone are 0.13 oz. gold per ton over 52 ft., 0.075 oz. over 3.3 ft and 0.033 oz. over 6.6 ft.
The Fluorite zone returned values of 0.17 oz. over 6.6 ft., as well as some low-grade intervals such as 0.087 oz. over 19.7 ft., and 0.026 oz. over 49.2 ft.
Akiko says recent trenching of the Fluorite zone in four areas situated east of the recent drilling has uncovered lenses of fluorite mineralization over a strike length of 1,600 ft. Visual estimates of up to 15% fluorite over 33 ft. are reported and channel sample results are pending.
The joint venture partners have an option to earn up to a 70% interest in the property from Goldfields Canadian Mining, a unit of London- based Hanson.
