Airborne work in Costa Rica gives boost to Lyon Lake Mines

Airborne magnetic and radiometric surveys on the Costa Rican projects of Lyon Lake Mines (ME) have resulted in several new targets.

The areas of interest include the Beta Vargas property, 150 km northwest of San Jose, and the Esperanza property, near the Nicaraguan border.

At Beta Vargas, where 1.7 million tons grading 0.04 oz. gold per ton have been outlined, aeromagnetics have defined a 7-km structure on strike with the known deposit. Several coincident radiometric anomalies occur along the structure, suggesting the presence of potassic alteration.

At the Esperanza, which adjoins other exploration properties held by Placer Dome (TSE) and Barrick Gold (TSE), magnetic anomalies trend northeast toward Placer Dome’s Crucitas gold prospect. The magnetic anomalies are crossed by geological structures detected in earlier remote-sensing work.
