AFRICA — Easton discovers PGMs

Grass-roots exploration by Easton Minerals (em-v) in southwest Angola has led to the discovery of anomalous platinum and palladium, as well as three outcrops bearing sulphide mineralization.

The junior owns a 70%-interest in the 20,050-sq.-km concession.

Geologically, the ground covers nearly half of the Cunene Basic anorthosite complex. In contact with that complex is a package of basement rocks of Lower Proterozoic age, which are exposed over most of the western half of the concession.

The best result, 100 parts per billion platinum, came from a sample of the complex.

A 5-km long phosphorus anomaly has also been discovered.
