Banro Resource (BNRS-C) has recovered two more long, low-grade gold intersections from an exploration program at its Twangiza gold deposit in Kivu province of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Hole 4, collared 140 metres north, and along strike, of hole 1, was drilled at an angle of minus 55 along the fold axis and to a depth of 577 metres across the plunge.
Hole 5, collared 370 metres northeast of hole 4, was drilled perpendicular to hole 4 in a westerly direction across the deposit at an angle of minus 50 and to a depth of 603 metres.
>From surface, holes 4 and 5 returned 1.78 grams gold per tonne over 445 metres and 1.28 grams gold over 428.2 metres, respectively. The values were cut to 30 grams per tonne.
During 1997, nine holes covering 4,488 metres were drilled, and work has now resumed after the Christmas shutdown.
Banro’s drilling has increased the depth of the deposit to 350 from 275 metres and the width to 275 from 200 metres.
