Abitibi Metals confirms down-dip extension

Two additional holes drilled in the vicinity of hole 87-15 have confirmed the down-dip extension of a gold-bearing zone discovered at the Jolin property in Carpentier Twp., 55 km northeast of Val d’Or, Que., Abitibi Metals Mines reports.

The company reported (N.M., Feb 15/88) the above hole intersecting 11.2 ft of 0.39 oz gold per ton at 546 ft. It now reports hole 87-27 cut 2.3 ft of 1.53 oz at 575.1 ft, while hole 87-28 encountered 2.3 ft of 0.93 oz at 692.2 ft.

“These partial results correspond to the rich mineralization part of the quartz vein,” President Pedro Cardoso said. The company estimates 20-to-30% sulphide (massive pyrite and fine chalcopyrite) over a minimum of 2 ft.
