An option agreement has been reached between Noranda Exploration, wholly owned by Noranda (TSE), and Exploration Abior (ME) whereby Abior may earn up to a 50% interest in the Dieppe property in Quebec’s Casa Berardi region by spending $1 million on exploration work during the next three years.
Comprising 198 claims, the Dieppe property lies next to the Golden Pond East and West gold deposits of the Inco-Golden Knight partnership.
Drilling undertaken by Noranda in 1988 intersected several quartz veins with sericite, carbonates, silicification, pyrite and arsenopyrite, similar to the Golden Pond mineralization, Abior President Claude St-Jacques said.
Hole 88-45, he said, cut 3 grams gold per tonne over 2.6 metres and 6 grams over 0.74 metres.
A program involving 2,000 metres of drilling, to focus on the eastern part of the property near hole 88-45, is under way. Abior is managed by officers of the Vior- Mazarin mining group.
