Joint venture partners Aber Resources and Hemisphere Development have resumed drilling their Sunset Lake polymetallic project located 70 miles northeast of Yellowknife, N.W.T.
Encouraged by initial drill results, the companies temporarily stopped the drill work to acquire larger land holdings around their prospect and they now have over 25,000 acres of mineral rights in the vicinity.
Drill hole R-2 intersected 23.9 ft of sulphides grading 19.7 oz silver per ton, 15.3% combined zinc-lead containing significant copper and gold values. Hole R-3 intersected 24.9 ft of mineralization which assayed 18.4 oz silver and 15.8% combined zinc-lead with copper and gold credits.
Mineralization occurs at the top of a steeply dipping rhyolitic volcanic unit which is overlain by intermediate volcanic rocks. Geological mapping and geophysical surveys suggest the mineralized horizon may repeat itself on other parts of the property due to isoclinal folding.
