Abcourt intersects gold in Quebec

Junior Abcourt Mines (ABI.B-M) has intersected gold at its West Gold showing, 5 miles northwest of Rouyn-Noranda, Que.

To date, 5,173 ft. have been collared from 13 holes. The best results include: 7.7 ft. (from 200 to 207.7 ft.) grading 1.123 oz. gold per ton (38.5 grams per tonne) in hole 22; 5 ft. (from 210 to 215 ft.) of 0.327 oz. per ton in hole 24; 4 ft. (from 220 to 224 ft.) of 0.422 oz. in hole 26; and 5 ft.

(from 490 to 495 ft.) of 0.694 oz. in hole 28.

Six of the holes intersected flat-lying, vein-type gold mineralization at depths ranging from 200 to 350 ft. The deepest hole cut the vein at a depth of 490 ft. At that location, mineralization was found in a northeast-trending shear zone that dips 45 to the southeast.

This latest round of drilling, combined with 12 previous holes, has defined a zone of gold mineralization that extends over 900 ft. in the north-south direction and about 325 ft. east-west but remains open at depth.

The next phase, to begin in mid-March, will consist of 5,000 ft.

The showing is 1.2 miles north of Abcourt’s dormant Elder mine, which produced 348,000 oz. gold from 1947 to 1966 and which is now being dewatered.
