Platinum group metal (PGM) explorers can look forward to some potentially good news which should be forthcoming soon.
Charles River Associates of Boston, Mass. is doing a market survey for a consortium of companies on a major ferro-chrome plant which could be built in Quebec. Dr. George Rainville, a mineral economist for Charles River, conducted the study and will be presenting the results to the Quebec government. He tells The Northern Miner the market for ferro-chrome looks good.
If a plant were to get the go-ahead in Quebec, it could enhance the economics of mining PGM deposits in Canada since several known PGM deposits are associated with chromite.
