50 Years Ago — September, 1937 — FONTANA OPENS WORK LEVEL AT 75-

Fontana Gold Mines Limited, has completed shaft sinking to a depth of 300 ft. A level has been opened up at a depth of 275 ft. where crosscutting and drifting is now in progress. According to J. F. Simard, president, surface work on the property has recently uncovered several interesting showings, which are also to be explored. The main vein at which current underground development plans are aimed, has been traced for a length of 500 ft, with some quite spectacular showings of visible gold at points.
