50 Years Ago MINING THE KEY TO CANADA’S FUTURE (November 01, 1988)

Canada, as the records in the bulky annual number of The Northern Miner revealed last month, is in the midst of a vast program of mineral development. Probably in no country in the world is mining and industrial progress so unhampered by the demands of economic nationalism, and nowhere else is individual initiative permitted to proceed with so little restraint. The results speak for themselves in the growing production of metals, the confidence of Canadians in the future of their hinterland and the readiness with which capital responds to the requirements of legitimate enterprise.
