50 YEARS AGO — JUNE, 1937 — IRON ORE BOUNTY APPROVED

With the passage of enabling legislation by the Ontario government, the way is now clear for the Algoma Steel Corp. to proceed with its plans for bringing the Helen mine, in Michipicoten, into production. Estimated reserves of siderite ore in the Helen mine, which is to be operated under the name of Algoma Ore Properties, are about 100 million tons. Reprinted from The Northern Miner, June 1937.
