Geological deduction, following close study of structure; subsequent diamond drilling to horizons 1,000 ft or more below surface; and faith in conclusions reached. These were the factors which have resulted in the indicating of one of the most important base metals orebodies ever found in Canada. About 12 years ago, surface outcroppings of copper-zinc ore were discovered on the properties of Waite-Ackerman-Montgomery Mines and Amulet Mines which held adjoining claims in Duprat and Dufresnoy twps., northwest of Rouyn, Que. Each of these showings was opened up separately and important ore disclosures were made. In the period of development, considerable diamond drilling was done from surface and this was successful in outlining several orebodies with flat attitudes at shallow horizons. Additional drilling did not extend the original zones, however. Eventually the two properties were merged and last year production was resumed from them.
