50 Years Ago FEBRUARY, 1938 COMPANY ANNOUNCES CUT IN MINE BILLS

Straight drop of $40 for all power up to 8,000 h.p. for Ontario and Quebec mines in 1938 — successive reduction of past eight years brings savings to customers to million dollars a year.

Canada Northern Power Corp. announces that, as a result of reductions in rates charged by its subsidiaries, further savings aggregating some $275,000 per year should result for the mining companies operating in the subsidiaries’ territories.

** EXCITING OUTLOOK FOR UCHI GOLD ** Broad mine-making possibilities, as promising as any that have appeared on the northern horizon in many a day, are indicated by the correlation of latest re sults from John Hammell’s development of the Uchi Gold Mines property in the Patricia district.

Based on the disclosures of recent months, officials are confident that only a short time will be required to undertake plans for a mill. At present, a mill decision rests entirely on the question of size. Spring of 1939, according to the official mind, should see the pro perty in steady production.
