50 years Ago AUGUST, 1937 FIFTY-SEVEN MINES SHIP TO TRAIL

During the first six months of 1937, shipments of crude ore to the Trail smelter for treatment from 57 small mines in the Kootenay-Boundary area aggregated 5, 085 tons. This constitutes a new record both in tonnage and in the number of ind ividual shippers.

Concentrate from the Sullivan mine at Kimberley of 246,767 tons brings the tot al tonnage handled by the smelter to 255,743 tons, dry weight, until June 30. *Reprinted from The Northern Miner, August, 1937.
