Australia’s mining industry, as this register shows, is alive and well despite a downturn in the gold price and slide in some producers’ output. In New South Wales, writes contributor Andrea Maxey, the “gold industry emerged from a decade of decline in 1988 with a huge increase in exploration expenditure, and four new mines either developed or moving to commissioning.”
While one state government has hinted at measures to revive local mining activities, companies of another state have introduced new strategies to offset production costs or to cut red tape. On the editor’s honor roll are stockbrokers, analysts and companies — best performers in the resource sector.
The tone is upbeat throughout, as befits a guide that lays bare Nature’s bounty to investors’ scrutiny.
