1993 A LOOK BACK — Tough year for Curragh

It was a tough year for Curragh (TSE), which had to cease production in early April at its Faro lead-zinc mining operation in the Yukon.

Deteriorating metals markets played havoc with Curraghs balance sheet. Both its Faro and Sa Dena Hes operations were placed into receivership, as was its Westray coal mine in Nova Scotia, which did not re-open following a fatal underground explosion in May, 1992.
