A 2-phase $1.6-million exploration program could begin next month on the Weedy Lake gold property owned by Golden Rule Resources (TSE), Tyler Resources (TSE) and Cameco — a Canadian Mining and Energy Company.
The Weedy Lake property is located in the La Ronge greenstone belt of northern Saskatchewan.
The program, proposed recently by Calgary-based Tyler would include 36,500 ft of diamond drilling and would increase Tyler’s interest in the property to 50.1% from its current 25.1%.
Drilling to date on the Weedy Lake property has outlined two main horizons of gold mineralization known as the B zone and the Golden Heart zone.
Geologically, the property is underlain by diorite intrusives and andesite volcanics. The mineralization is associated with shear zones that strike in a northeasterly direction across the claims.
The company reports more assays have now been received from its recently completed fall drill program. The best intersections from the recent results are as follows: LengthGrade Hole (ft) (oz/t) 70 42.7 0.13 71 1.6 0.82 72 42.7 0.55
23.0 0.24 73 3.2 0.24
9.8 0.14
Tyler’s president, Glen Harper said hole 72, the deepest hole drilled to date, represents the best intersection of the Golden Heart zone. The intersection was obtained at a depth of 560 ft below surface. Preliminary interpretation of the drill data suggests the presence of several subparallel zones, he said.
