The most recent drill results from the AGB zone within Benchmark Metals’ (TSXV: BNCH; US-OTC: CYRTF) Lawyers project in British Columbia hit broad and high-grade intervals of near-surface gold-silver mineralization.
The drilling has expanded the AGB zone to the west, to over 600 metres of strike, and from surface to a vertical depth of over 270 metres. The drill holes, announced in a news release, included broad intercepts, high-grade intervals, as well as high-grade bulk-tonnage style intercepts.
The broad and high-grade intercepts included 14 metres of 4.15 grams gold per tonne and 61.23 grams silver per tonne (4.92 grams gold-equivalent per tonne) from 13 metres; and 15 metres of 3.84 grams gold and 28.61 grams silver (4.2 grams gold-equivalent) starting at 104 metres. This latter interval is within a 52-metre section of 1.76 grams gold-equivalent.
Notable high-grade assays included 2 metres of 9.04 grams gold and 257 grams silver (12.25 grams gold-equivalent) from 55 metres and 3 metres of 2.17 grams gold and 233.2 grams silver (5.08 grams gold-equivalent) starting at 79 metres.
The high-grade results appear to be from the western part of AGB, where drilling south of historic underground workings hit high-grade zones, with grades increasing with depth.
In a statement, John Williamson, the company’s chief executive, noted that the AGB zone remains open and that drilling within this area continues to hit additional mineralization to the west, south, and at depth.
“When 2020 drilling is completed at AGB, we anticipate significant gold-silver ounces from surface to depth that will contribute to the 2021 mineral resource estimate.”
Benchmark is working to deliver an updated resource estimate for the property in the first quarter of next year and a preliminary economic assessment in the second quarter.
This year, the explorer has drilled 11,863 metres at AGB and over 66,000 metres throughout the Lawyers property, with plans to complete 100,000 metres by year-end.
The road-accessible Lawyers property in the Golden Horseshoe area of north-central B.C. covers 140 square kilometres.
In 2018, Benchmark released an initial inferred resource for the Cliff Creek North and Dukes Ridge zones at Lawyers: Cliff Creek North features 550,000 inferred tonnes, grading 4.51 grams gold and 209.15 grams silver, with an additional 58,000 inferred tonnes at Dukes Ridge, at 4.3 grams gold and 139.13 grams silver. These were derived using a 4 gram per tonne gold-equivalent cutoff.
