Benefit raises funds for hospital

The second annual Mining for a Heart of Gold fundraiser brought in $35,000 for the Hamilton, Ont.-based St. Peter’s Hospital at Chedoke, a facility that helps young adults with disabilities.

Lassonde wins Gold Medal

Newmont Mining President Pierre Lassonde added a couple of ounces to his reserves when he was presented with the Gold Medal by the Ontario Professional Engineers at a ceremony in Toronto.
