A fire at Suncor Energy‘s (SU-T) oil sands operation in northern Alberta forced the evacuation of about 250 people in early January. No injuries were reported.

Vantex Resources (VTX-V) has cut visible gold in three of five holes drilled on its 38-sq.-km Guillet property, 5 km east of Belleterre in the Temiscamingue area of Quebec.
