The United States was the world’s leading producer of uranium until the 1980s. Though today other countries such as Kazakhstan, Namibia and Canada top the rankings of producers, the rise in uranium oxide spot prices since last January and demand for zero-emissions energy have helped bump production in the U.S. in the first two quarters of 2024. The Northern Miner looks at how spot prices have correlated with production since 2000, and how the price uptick might point towards higher production in the coming years.
