The Northern Miner is proud to launch the Great Canadian Treasure Hunt—a nationwide adventure that celebrates Canada’s rich mining heritage and bright future.
Across the country, pure one-ounce gold coins—worth thousands of dollars each—have been hidden for Canadians to find. These treasures symbolize the spirit of discovery that built our mining industry, from the Klondike Gold Rush to today’s hunt for critical minerals powering the clean-energy transition.
But the Treasure Hunt is about more than prizes. It’s about sparking curiosity and pride in how mining shaped our past and how it will continue to drive our future prosperity. Along the way, participants will encounter riddles, clues, and stories highlighting the industry’s role in Canada’s growth and sovereignty.
This ambitious initiative is made possible by the support of our sponsors: Agnico Eagle Mines, Sprott Money, IAMGOLD, Kinross Gold, the World Gold Council, McEwen Inc., Alamos Gold, EY and Mining Matters. Together, we’re inviting Canadians from coast to coast to rediscover the thrill of exploration and celebrate the resources that fuel our nation.
