The Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) has announced that five outstanding groups will be presented with awards at its next convention, March 3-6, 2024, in Toronto. Since 1977, these annual awards have recognized exemplary individuals, teams, and companies for their significant accomplishments in mineral exploration and development.

John Burzynski, CEO of Osisko Mining (TSX: OSK), and the Osisko Mining exploration team have been chosen to receive the Bill Dennis Award recognizing a significant Canadian mineral discovery or contribution to the exploration industry. The team was chosen for the discovery and ongoing expansion of the Lynx gold zone at Osisko’s Windfall deposit in Eeyou Istchee James Bay, Que.

The Wabun Tribal Council in Ontario has been named the winner of this year’s Skookum Jim Award. The council has developed a consistent process of engagement (The Wabun model) that enhances collaboration between companies and First Nations communities and is widely recognized across Canada.

O3 Mining (TSXV: OIII) has won the Sustainability Award for exceptional environmental, social and governance performance, including the achievement of ECOLOGO Certification. The company is advancing a portfolio of gold projects near Val-d’Or, Que.

The Lundin Group’s Vicuña exploration team has been named the winner of the Thayer Lindsley Award. The team is being recognized for the discovery of the Vicuña district in the Central Andean copper province in Argentina and Chile, which Lundin Group companies Lundin Mining (TSX: LUN), Filo Corp. (TSX: FIL), and NGEx Minerals (TSXV: NGEX) control.

John McConnell, CEO of Victoria Gold (TSX: VGCX) and the Victoria Gold team are the winners of this year’s Viola R. MacMillan Award for innovative financing of the Eagle gold mine in Yukon.

“The 2024 recipients continue the 46-year tradition of excellence in the PDAC awards,” said Raymond Goldie, PDAC president in a release announcing the winners. “Their successes are an inspiration and demonstrate the expertise, ingenuity, and determination needed to find the minerals that are essential to modern life. Our awards recipients also show that, both in Canada and worldwide, mineral explorers and developers are practising innovative and effective approaches to community engagement and sustainability.”
