CuOro Resources (CUA-V) has released positive initial drill results from its Santa Elena copper-gold near-surface volcanogenic massive sulphide project in Colombia.
Highlights include: hole 5, returning 40 metres of 2.8% copper (Cu) with 10 metres of 5.32% Cu; hole 4, carrying 9 metres of 3.14% Cu with 2 metres of 11.56% Cu, and hole 2, bringing 47 metres of 1.76% Cu.
All six initial holes returned significant Cu mineralization with gold (Au) grades ranging between 0.02 gram per tonne and 3.75 grams per tonne. True widths are unknown.
The company suggests that the first six holes were drilled on the outer edge of the main conductors identified by induced polarization ground surveys. Four more holes are being prepared for assaying. To date 2,260 metres have been drilled. A second drill has arrived on-site, and a third has been secured and is expected to arrive in the coming months.
CuOro plans to drill 25,000 metres at Santa Elena in the current drill program. The Santa Elena Cu-Au project exhibits outcropping massive sulphide mineralization composed of pyrrhotite, chalcopyrite and pyrite.
Robert Sedgemore, president and CEO of CuOro Resources, commented, “We are obviously excited by the widths and grades encountered in our first six drill holes. To our knowledge these are the longest intercepts with the highest copper grades yet to be encountered in Colombia. Importantly, mineralization is close to surface and we have defined and delineated numerous new drill targets from our recent airborne and ground geophysical surveys.”
