Barry Open Pit Grows For Metanor Resources

Expansion drilling at the Barry open-pit mine in Quebec continues to extend mineralized zones, Metanor Resources (MTO-V, MEAOF-O) says. The pit is open in all directions and a resource estimate is under way.

Metanor, which sends ore from the Barry pit to its Bachelor Lake mill for processing, said gold intersections were found close to the surface and indicate the lateral continuity of the Center Zone at shallow depth and its gold-bearing content between the West Zone and Zone 43.

Drill highlights include Hole 410, which returned mineralization in the Center Zone, cutting 12 metres of 5.53 grams gold per tonne starting at 2.5 metres depth, including an intersection of 13.31 grams gold over 5.2 metres.

Hole 412 returned 9.9 metres of 3.53 grams gold starting at 6.5 metres, including 3.2 metres of 10.2 grams gold.

Hole 459 intersected 3 grams gold over 12.6 metres at a vertical depth of about 30 metres, while hole 428 cut 3.75 grams gold over 18 metres at 45 metres depth.

The results indicate lateral continuity with deep gold-bearing zones and also confirm the potential for significant additional resources in all of Barry’s gold-bearing zones, the company says.

This new mineralized zone is about 80 metres south of the Main Zone and extends over 500 metres.

Results obtained to date suggest the potential of new mineralized zones in the deformation corridor that crosses the Barry property. The true width is roughly 85% to 90% of the core length obtained in diamond-drill holes.

In early September, Metanor reported that hole 409 at Barry returned 7.8 metres (from surface) of 7.71 grams gold in the Center zone, which connects the West zone to Zone 43. Just 10 metres west, hole 370, an earlier hole, cut 27 metres of 4.86 grams gold from 43 metres depth.

At presstime, Metanor traded at 45¢ a share. The company has a 52-week trading high of 89¢ and a low of 26¢.
