The PDAC has organized a one-day workshop on Friday, February 27, to introduce the Association’s Framework for Responsible Exploration, provide an orientation to its contents and practical guidance on how to use it in the field. The objective of the Framework is to provide the means for members to reduce social and environmental risk to their projects and enable them to become world leaders in applying corporate social responsibility (CSR).
The PDAC initiated the development of the Framework almost two years ago and has developed the contents through a series of workshops with the exploration industry and focus group meetings with key stakeholders. The first version will be released during the upcoming PDAC convention in March, 2009 and field-tested by members over a period of about a year for the purpose of feedback and improvement. The first version will include high level Principles and Guidelines, supported by two comprehensive, good-practice guidance manuals; a significantly enhanced version of e3 (Environmental Excellence in Exploration), covering social responsibility and environmental stewardship issues and a new exploration health and safety manual.
Workshop objectives are:
1. To introduce and orientate participants to the components of the Framework;
2. To present a series of case histories to illustrate the practical application of the Framework components to real project situations.

This workshop is designed for exploration practitioners and managers. It will also be of interest to key stakeholders including aboriginal/indigenous peoples, NGOs, the financial community, academics, government and community representatives.
