Mine consulting and engineering firm Jacques Whitford has been named one of Canada’s top 20 family-friendly employers by Today’s Parent magazine for the third year in a row.
The firm, which was established in Dartmouth, N. S., in 1972, was recognized for its “forward-thinking benefits and programs” and its willingness to help employees balance work and family commitments.
In a letter to Today’s Parent, Regan LeClair, an employee at the engineering firm’s Fredericton, N. B., office said: “I was excited to see that my company, Jacques Whitford Ltd., was named as one of the Top 10 Family-Friendly Employers in Canada — it’s well deserved. I want to add how proud I am, as a parent, to work for a company that takes a strong position on carbon neutrality and sustainability.”
Jacques Whitford received a nod on the list, which has doubled in size since last year, for its topped-up parental leave, tuition subsidies for employees and scholarship programs for children of employees.
The company estimates more than 90% of its employees use its annual fitness subsidy, which can go towards anything from sports equipment to gym memberships.
The consulting firm, which has a staff of 1,800, has received mention as a top employer in Maclean’s magazine and the Nova Scotia-based newspaper the Chronicle Herald. It has also been recognized as one of the best places to work in the Atlantic region by Progress magazine.
