The latest pair of holes by Nuinsco Resources (NWI-T, NUIRF-O) on the Minago sulphide nickel deposit, about 70 km south of Wabowden, Man., have delivered starkly different results.
The first hole, no. NM-06-02, yielded some of the highest grades from the project so far. A 551-metre core interval (beginning 278.9 metres below surface) runs 0.55% nickel, and includes an 81-metre interval averaging 1.12% nickel.
Importantly, a 197.6-metre section lower in the hole grades 0.82% nickel, including 79.4 metres of 1.04% nickel, and 3.93 metres of 1.91% nickel, beginning at 750.5 metres and 825.9 metres below surface.
“With this drilling, we are particularly pleased to confirm the presence of higher-grade mineralization at depth,” said Nuinsco’s vice-president of exploration, Paul Jones.
A second hole collared some 1.5 km away missed the mineralized zone.
The drilling is part of an ongoing 3,000-metre infill drill program.
Minago is home to measured and indicated resources totalling 29.8 million tonnes averaging 0.64% nickel, with another 27.2 million tonnes of inferred material grading 0.67% nickel. The estimates are based on a cutoff grade of 0.4% nickel.
The deposit remains open at depth.
