Metallurgical testing on samples from the Aurora gold project in Guyana has returned positive results for Guyana Goldfields (GUY-T, GUYFF-O).
Consulting firm SGS Lakefield performed leach tests on six samples, ranging in gold grade from 2 to 21.75 grams per tonne. They represented different lithological types from three prospects, Rory’s Knoll, Aleck Hill, and Madd Kiss.
The lowest recovery, 92%, was in primary vein-type mineralization from Aleck Hill; the highest, 98%, was in saprolite from the same prospect. Apart from the high recovery rates, the samples showed normal rates of cyanide and lime consumption.
The gold was mainly leached within six hours of the start of the tests, indicating that the gold is free-milling.
Guyana Goldfields has been drilling gold mineralization at the property, about 180 km west of Georgetown, intersecting significant mineralized widths — some between 30 and 200 metres in core length — though it has not estimated a resource yet.
