Claude outlines gold at Santoy

Claude Resources (CRJ-T) has cut significant gold at its Santoy Lake property, 125 km northeast of La Ronge, Sask. The drilling focused on Zones 8 and 8E.

Zone 8 was tested along at least 1 km of strike length, and impressive values were encountered over a 400-metre strike length in this shear zone. The highlight was hole 55, which graded up to 17 grams gold per tonne over 3.2 metres. When the gold grade is cut to 30 grams gold per tonne, this intercept grades 8.5 grams gold. Thirteen metres farther down-hole, a 3.6-metre interval graded 7.5 grams gold.

About 150 metres to the northwest, hole 121 cut 4.5 metres grading 10.9 grams gold (9.6 grams when the gold grade is cut to 30 grams).

Between these holes, three drill holes cut narrower zones 0.3-1.55 metres wide grading 1-6.4 grams gold.

Northwest of hole 121, several holes cut multiple intervals from 0.5 to 1.65 metres wide grading 1.1-25.9 grams gold.

Three out of 12 holes failed to intersect significant gold.

Zone 8E, 150 metres southeast of Zone 8, has been tested at 50-metre intervals along about 200 metres of strike length. The width of the zone varies from 2 to 15 metres.

Several of these holes were fenced, and a couple were drilled from the same setup but at different angles. This drilling was highlighted by hole 129, which cut 3 metres grading 35 grams gold. If the gold grade is cut to 30 grams, this intercept grades 18.6 grams gold.

A second hole drilled from this setup, but at a steeper angle, hit three zones. One graded as high as 16 grams gold over 1.35 metres, whereas the other two graded 3.8 grams gold over 5.7 metres and 2 metres respectively.

Four other holes cut 3.6-9.2 grams gold over widths of 1.6-4 metres. Three holes cut narrow intervals 0.3-0.97 metre wide with grades of 1-16.3 grams gold per tonne.

Fifteen holes, or about 3,430 metres, tested the zone; five failed to intersect significant gold. The zone is still open along strike and at depth.

Mineralization in both zones is hosted by chlorite-quartz-sulphide veins and altered, silicified granitoid rocks associated with shear zones cutting mafic volcaniclastic rock.

Zone 8 is 11.5 km east of Claude’s Seabee gold mine, which is doubling its processing capacity to 1,100 tonnes per day.
