The second annual Mining for a Heart of Gold fundraiser brought in $35,000 for the Hamilton, Ont.-based St. Peter’s Hospital at Chedoke, a facility that helps young adults with disabilities.

Last year the event raised $40,000 to help renovate St. Peter’s Palliative Care unit.

This year’s event was held at the Courthouse Market Grille & Chamber Lounge in Toronto and sponsored by Tribute Minerals and IBK Capital. Prizes and a live auction were featured.

“It’s a great event and we’re happy to support it,” says George Bell, president of Horny Bay Exploration, who was one of about 200 in attendance.

Through its affiliation with McMaster University, St. Peter’s at Chedoke provides care for young adults with neurological conditions, spinal and acquired brain injuries.

“For the second year, we are pleased to bring the mining communities together to raise money for much-needed specialty of care,” says Ian Brodie-Brown, president and CEO of Tribute Minerals.
